Administering Prescribed Medication at School
Students who need to take medication during the day are usually unwell, and therefore should be at home. In some circumstances, we understand that students may need to take regular medications at specific times of the day and we have specially trained staff who take on the role of administering tablets, puffers etc. However, DET policy clearly states that this cannot be done without written instructions and permission from parents, see attachment below. We also request that medication that needs to be taken 3 times a day be taken at home whenever possible. Please be mindful of this when sending medications to school with your child.
