This year 34 students from years 4, 5 and 6 participated in the ArtsNorth Film Festival and Wakakirri Story-Film competition. These students created their own films from scratch! They brainstormed ideas for a story and wrote their own scripts; over a whole weekend they acted and filmed; followed by early morning and lunch time sessions in the computer lab to create sound effects and edit their work. At the end of this enterprise four fabulous films were created;- ipod Addiction, Don't Judge a Fruit by its Looks, Pets Revenge and Extraordinary Collision. All four films were selected to be part of the ArtsNorth Film Festival were screened at the Dendy, Opera Quays on Wednesday 10 November. All students who participated in these films were invited and a Gold award was presented to the filmmakers of Don't Judge a Fruit by its Looks and Silver awards were presented for the remaining three films! What an incredible achievement!
Meanwhile, iPod Addiction was the film selected to enter the Wakakirri Story-Film competition and subsequently it became a top 10 Wakakirri National finalist! Three students from this film group attended a Wakakirri function where the National Winners were announced - and iPod Addiction was awarded the Best Cinematography Award! The film as well as the other finalists can be found on the Wakakirri Website
