Inspire – High potential and gifted education

At Gladesville Public School, we recognise that high potential exists in many forms across all learners. Our approach to HPGE(Inspire – High potential and gifted education)  is embedded in everyday teaching and learning, guided by a strong focus on formative assessment, evidence-based practices, and effective differentiation to meet the unique needs of every student and foster a learning environment where high potential and gifted students can thrive, develop their talents, and reach their full potential.

HPGE encompasses four key domains:

• Creative domain – refers to natural abilities in imagination, invention and originality.
• Intellectual domain – refers to natural abilities in processing, understanding, reasoning, and the transfer of learning.
• Physical domain – refers to natural abilities in muscular movement and motor control.
• Social-emotional – refers to natural abilities in self-management and relating to and interacting with others.

By recognising and nurturing strengths across these domains, HPGE aims to provide tailored learning opportunities that challenge and engage gifted students holistically.

Ways we support our HPGE learners include:

We actively participate in statewide competitions and activities, providing our students with valuable opportunities to challenge themselves and perform at their best. Through this collaborative and enriched approach, we ensure all student’s unique talents are recognised, developed and celebrated

• The Premier’s Spelling Bee promotes our students’ vocabulary development and attention to detail in competitive settings.
• The Premier’s Debating Challenge helps our students to build logical arguments and confidence in public speaking.
• The Premier’s Sporting Challenge (PSC) promotes whole-school participation in physical activity with leadership pathways and professional learning.
• The Representative School Sport Pathway and PSSA events enable our students to trial and compete in sports at regional, state and national levels, fostering discipline, commitment and collaboration.
